Moving in #6: DIY Small balcony table from scaffold wood

This is a Peter project over here. Vincent and I went to the Reggae Geel festival in Belgium and while we were there, Peter made this table (or bar, whatever you’d like to call it) from scaffold wood. While eating outside we figured it would be handy to place our drinks and plates somewhere, it’s also nice when there’s a party going on. We don’t have much photos of the process because Vincent and I were away.

Step 1
Measure your balcony and figure out what sizes you like for your table

Step 2
Cut into right size and brush the scaffold wood with a rough wire brush. This is to get rid of all the dirt and the rotten parts in the wood

Step 3
Use rough sandpaper to even the surface and then use soft sandpaper to smoothen it out

Step 4
! Stain all the wood (+ the edges) and let it dry. Remember to treat the wood multiple times since it’ll catch a lot of rain. You don’t want your wood to rot! Update: We made small holes in the wood to drain the water. It started rotting.

Step 5
Attach the plates to each other with a wooden plank (or something else, like metal)

Step 6
Attach the edge to the scaffold wood with screws

Step 7
Bring the table to the balcony and attach it. We had metal plates sticking out for a clothesline. So we drilled some holes in it and attached the table to the metal plate with bolts

And done! Its’s perfect for dinner, breakfast and lunch.
